SAACKE focuses on more diversity for all employees and opts for Foodji
World market leader for combustion systems
SAACKE is a fourth-generation family-run Bremen-based company for industrial combustion technology (marine and land-based) and employs around 1,000 people, including 400 engineers and technicians. SAACKE has production sites in Bremen, Croatia, China and Argentina as well as a worldwide service and sales network. The headquarters as well as research and development are located in Bremen. SAACKE is one of the world market leaders in the field of innovative firing technologies and has been developing and producing firing systems since 1931.
Since the 1980s, SAACKE has also been using processes that utilize alternative and non-fossil fuels such as hydrogen, waste or low-calorific residual materials efficiently, safely and sustainably to generate thermal energy. As a pioneer and innovation driver in combustion technology, SAACKE finds solutions for the use of even the most demanding fuels and at the same time manages to reduce the environmental impact of combustion to the technically feasible minimum.

Fresh supplies around the clock & more variety for administration and production
Running the SAACKE canteen became less and less worthwhile, mainly due to the increase in working from home after the pandemic. Due to a lack of economic viability, the canteen was closed - but this also meant the loss of an important meeting place. The employees on site also had no alternative - restaurants and cafés would have been very time-consuming to reach:
- Over 60 % of canteen places remain unused - with ongoing fixed costs
- Employees working in shifts were not catered for by the opening hours of a canteen
- Not a sustainable concept due to high food waste.
Objective of SAACKE
- Providing employees in administration and production with fresh food
- Not only covering hearty food preferences
- reunite employees over meals, as was the case before Covid.

Foodji: Reliable supply situation
In its search for a flexible and high-quality alternative to the canteen, SAACKE found what it was looking for:
- The canteen has been completely replaced by Foodji and more than 150 employees at the Bremen site regularly help themselves to Foodji.
- SAACKE subsidizes its employees with breakfast and lunch, thereby creating tangible added value for the workforce on a daily basis.
- The canteen area has been refreshed and embellished and now offers a place to get together again.
Thanks to Foodji, SAACKE was able to introduce an economical, flexible solution - without the need for staff or infrastructure. "Food from the vending machine always brings initial doubts, but now the demand is higher than the supply and our teams are eating together again." (Julian Plath, CFO)
"In everything we do, we are always aware of our environmental and social responsibility. We want to make a contribution to meeting the constantly growing energy needs of the global population with ever more energy-efficient solutions. This applies not only to the new plants we build, but also to plant modernization. This is what drives us."

Result: Varied and fresh meals for all employees, whether in administration or production
With Foodji, SAACKE was able to replace the canteen and offer all employees 24/7 access to fresh, high-quality meals - regardless of their shift or workplace. A meeting place was created where Foodji has proven to be a flexible, cost-effective and valued solution, providing high-quality food for all employees every day
