Munich, December 10, 2024 - Thorsten Schaar is the new VP Sales at Foodji, the young food tech market leader from Munich. He has been in charge of sales and account management at the up-and-coming scale-up since August. Foodji offers intelligent food vending machines for flexible employee catering and has just secured access to growth capital of up to 25 million euros. The company intends to use the capital to grow faster and further expand its market presence. Thorsten Schaar will play a key role in shaping this growth. The experienced transformation expert comes from coaching provider CoachHub, where he was Vice President and Country Manager DACH, developing activities in German-speaking countries and driving international expansion. Thorsten Schaar previously worked for HR software provider Haufe-umantis for ten years. There he initially held leading positions in sales and business development before becoming the Lead "Enterprise Agility", where he dealt intensively with the topics of organizational development and corporate transformation.

‍Vision: Healthy eating at the workplace becomes standard

Thorsten Schaar also wants to initiate change in his new role at Foodji: "Many employers overlook the impact that healthy employee catering has on the motivation and well-being of their employees - we urgently need a rethink here. Especially in these difficult economic times, companies need to understand that employee wellbeing is a key component of corporate success. People will only enjoy coming to work if they feel good at their workplace - and a wholesome nutritional offering is crucial here. I am looking forward to leading the next phase of Foodji's growth with my highly motivated go-to-market team following the recently closed financing round. We have nothing less in mind than to establish healthy food as a standard in every company - and to finally make employee catering a top priority." Foodji CEO and co-founder Felix Munte is also delighted with the new addition: "Our working world is currently undergoing a fundamental change. With Thorsten, we have gained an experienced sales expert who also brings extensive knowledge of the current transformation processes. Foodji is growing strongly - and we are only just beginning to tap into the huge employee catering market. We look forward to reaching the next milestones together."

Supply gap in company catering for SMEs

Foodji was founded in 2016 and has been on the market since 2019. The company has developed a food vending machine of the same name that uses intelligent technology to provide fresh meals around the clock. Foodji is thus addressing a huge market: an estimated 90 percent of the more than 80,000 SMEs in Germany do not provide their employees with meals at work.
