Foodji comes to Franconia: Flexible employee catering for companies in Nuremberg

Foodji in Nuremberg
  • With its new location in Nuremberg, the Munich-based scale-up is tapping into the economically strong northern Bavaria region.
  • Foodji's flexible catering concept provides employees with nutritious meals around the clock – either as a supplement to or replacement for the cafeteria.
  • Small and medium-sized businesses also benefit: fresh meals are now possible regardless of size, shift times, or location.

Munich, September 24, 2025 – Munich-based food tech provider Foodji continues to expand: the company is now also supplying businesses in the Nuremberg area with its automated catering concept. This is Foodji's response to the growing demand for flexible, high-quality employee catering in one of Germany's most economically dynamic regions.

The new location marks the next logical step in Foodji's growth strategy: "Nuremberg is a strong business location with a high density of medium-sized companies and a clear focus on future technologies," explains Thorsten Schaar, Vice President Sales at Foodji. "This is exactly where we see enormous potential: in industries such as automotive, IT, and logistics, work often continues around the clock. This creates a demand for food that traditional canteen models usually cannot meet. Our automated catering solution closes this gap—and also enables shift and night workers to enjoy wholesome, fresh meals."

Ingentis focuses on modern catering at the workplace

One of the first companies to use Foodji is HR software provider Ingentis. "At Ingentis, it's not just about powerful HR software, but also about how to design a work environment that allows people to reach their full potential," says Lavinia Gieringer, project manager at Ingentis. "We launched the Foodji project because we want to offer our 140 employees good catering options. Especially at our location in an industrial park, there are few alternatives within walking distance – against this backdrop, the introduction of Foodji was eagerly awaited."

Feedback from the team has been positive, and the vending machine already has its first fans. "We are currently monitoring how the offer is being received and gathering experience for further planning," says Lavinia Gieringer. A big plus point is that the effort required on the part of the company is minimal. "Foodji takes care of everything—from filling the machine to billing. For our employees, this means access to fresh food at any time, regardless of the time of day or day of the week."

Catering that adapts to everyday working life

The Foodji concept is very much in tune with the spirit of the times and is also suitable for small budgets and hybrid working concepts: "We deliver fresh, balanced, and tasty meals right to where people spend their everyday lives: their workplace," says Felix Munte, CEO and co-founder of Foodji. "To achieve this, we are uncompromising in our commitment to quality and freshness—the result of a well-thought-out system that meets the highest standards, from recipe development to logistics."

Many small and medium-sized companies do not have their own canteen, as this only becomes worthwhile once the company reaches a certain size. However, high-quality catering options are also essential for the social fabric of the company, as Felix Munte explains: "When it comes to employee catering, it has long been about more than just satisfying hunger: food is not a luxury, but a basic human need. Fresh, healthy food at work will no longer be considered a benefit in the future, but rather the standard."

The AI-supported vending machines offer over 300 different main courses, which are continuously adapted to the needs of customers. Food is provided without the need for staff or long lead times. This enables even small and medium-sized companies to offer cost-effective, high-quality catering, regardless of the size of the business or shift times.

Goal: Fresh food at every workplace

After Hanover and Augsburg, Nuremberg is already the third new location that Foodji has opened this year. This has been made possible in part by the expanded Series A financing of US$28 million. Foodji wants to continue its growth course in the long term—with the clear goal of expanding its position as the leading provider of smart employee catering in Germany.
