Food tech provider on course for growth: Foodji now also supplies companies in Hanover

Employee catering
  • Foodji is now also offering its intelligent food vending machines to businesses in the Hanover area.
  • The scale-up is thus continuing its growth trajectory: Foodji announced in November that it had secured hybrid financing of up to 25 million euros.
  • With its flexible concept for ultra-fresh food at the workplace, Foodji aims to close the supply gap in the SME sector and make healthy company catering the standard.

Munich, January 13, 2025 - Foodji continues to grow: as of this year, the intelligent food vending machines from the Munich-based food tech market leader are also available for companies in Hanover. The first local customers include well-known companies from the fields of transportation and traffic, logistics, connection technology, consulting and chemicals, as well as suppliers for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries.

"As a trade fair city and hub for the European transportation of people, goods and merchandise, Hanover is a strategically important location for a wide range of industries," explains Thorsten Schaar, VP Sales at Foodji. "Numerous companies from sectors such as the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, logistics, the energy industry and IT are based in the region - many of which also have associated production in shift operation. We see great potential here to expand our range of healthy employee catering."

Setting the course for further growth

Foodji offers small and medium-sized companies without their own canteen access to fresh, healthy and affordable employee meals. Larger companies also find the smart vending machines a flexible alternative or supplement to the canteen, for example to provide round-the-clock catering for employees working in shifts. The company was founded in 2016 and has been on the market since 2019. In the last two years, the food tech specialist has almost quadrupled its turnover. At the beginning of 2024, Foodji expanded its availability to the Bremen area, where aircraft manufacturer Airbus was one of its first customers. In November, the scale-up then secured hybrid financing of up to 25 million euros. Foodji intends to use this capital to scale up further and improve the catering situation in Germany's small and medium-sized companies. After all, it can be assumed that around 90 percent of German companies with more than 30 employees do not offer their own catering solution.

In August 2024, Foodji gained a new VP Sales, Thorsten Schaar, who has set himself the goal of driving growth and realizing Foodji's vision: healthy food in the

to become the standard for everyone. The expansion into the Hanover area is the next milestone on this path. "Especially in times of economic uncertainty, companies must take the well-being of their employees seriously, as it is not least the basis for their motivation and performance. Healthy nutrition in the workplace plays a decisive role in this," says Thorsten Schaar.
